Louise Moir, head teacher of Mackie Academy, acknowledges that a four-day week is not a 'one size fits all' solution and could be impractical for parents. Katrina Suèr, a parent council chair, agrees, stating that a four-day week would mean children missing out on a fifth of their education. The Scottish government, meanwhile, argues that teacher numbers have increased over the last decade and that Scotland already has the lowest pupil-teacher ratio and smallest class sizes in the UK.
